We've Made Heathy Taste Good!
My journey to healthy eating came at a very high cost. During the early part of 2020, I learned that I had a 5 cm Hiatal Hernia at the base of my esophagus and stomach which was the root of all of my pain, dental issues, digestive issue, sleep issues, and the list goes on and on. My doctor informed me that I would need surgery to repair the hernia, and that this surgery would include replacing the sphincter that closes the stomach so that acid doesn't come back up into my esophagus which is known as GERD. He told me I had two options; one was new, and it was only this past year that he felt comfortable with the procedure. It is known as the LINX procedure. The other, more tried and tested procedure was known as the Nissen Fundoplication.
Naturally, I began my research and over time, I deducted that eating meat was going to be a big concern regardless of which procedure I chose. A long-time friend advised me to consider a plant based protein diet and suggested I watch a few documentaries to learn more, so I did just that, and today, I am now 2 years into eating well on a plant based protein diet. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever believed that I would give up my animal proteins, but here I am. Living proof that eating a plant based diet was the best decision I could have made for my overall health!
Now, how in the world am I going to market barbecue sauce when I am not eating animal protein, you may ask? The answer is simple. I had to go back to the kitchen and make additional new sauces that I can not only sell, but also use for my own personal consumption. Y'all know I am not going to give up grilling!
For the Burger - I found a brand of vegan meat that cooks up, tastes, and looks like a normal burger. The next discovery was with creating healthier ingredients for Momma's Original & Texas Hot Flash by making them as Plant Based Sauces. These are not only vegan sauces, they are also very healthy, low carb, and with no processed sugars, and fresh veggies.
Now I can enjoy grilling with my family! If you are looking for a healthier barbecue sauce without high fructose corn syrup or processed sugar but has wholesome natural sweeteners, you will absolutely love Momma's Plant Based Sauces!
